I have held a keen interest in radio for many years, since childhood in fact. But it was not until I started studying for the Radio Amateurs Examination back in 1982 that my enthusiasm really began to take off. Once I had gained my licence in late 83, I immideatly began working many different stations from arround the UK, and sometimes beyond.
Throughout the years my main interest has been the VHF / UHF part of the spectrum, and I have experimented with many different modes. These have included not only the usual phone modes of SSB & FM, but also fast scan TV, RTTY and Packet.
One of my favorite bands at present is the Six Meter band, and I have enjoyed working many stations from arround the world during a number of good openings over the years. I still hold the same callsign, (GW1AKT), and also more recently the call MW3AGN although this call is now redundant owing to recent changes in the UK licencing regulations allowing  holders of the former "B" class licence to operate on all bands below 30Mhz as well as those above 30Mhz, following the removal of the morse requirment to operate on bands below 30Mhz at the recent WRC conference in Geneva.
